Oh, Boy!

I am so Not Ready for this! We seem to talk more about girls and what goes on with them around this "crossing over" age from tweens to teens, but I just got a fresh worry slap in the face when I ran upon a lady and her son in Walmart yesterday. The boy is in 7th grade (between my 2 kids). Its probable he's already turned 13, but if so, not by far.

I first recognized the mother, then a glance at her side made me wonder who the little man was. Let me tell you this kid comes about to his mom's shoulder in height. It took me a minute to realize this was her son. His hair is very thick, and so is his mustache!! Jawdropping! She's letting this 12/13 year old child wear a mustache that puts some men's to shame! He didn't say anything and I found myself wondering what kind of voice would come out if he did. Has his voice changed yet?

Please tell me my DS age 11 isn't going to turn into a miniature man overnight! I am not ready to see hair on his face and wouldn't let him wear it to school in 7th grade if I did. . .Swoon. . .

And I thought raising a son would be a breeze compared to a daughter. Oh, boy!

All boys mature at different ages. My 13 son has no facial hair and voice is just starting to change. My DS10 i think will have more facial hair and will hit puberty faster. It makes me sad to think that my little boys aren't so little anymore. I walk into a room and they are discussing women and why thin women are ugly! Yes, I was proud! Anyway I remember after hearing them my stomach dropped, what happened to discussing video games or toys? It doesn't shock me anymore to hear: Wow shes hot! I just make sure to talk to them about women and how to treat them. Its ok to look at beautiful things and people but remember these women also have feelings and personalities.
Lets just enjoy our "babies" for as long as we can!

ACtually I've found that it's harder on women for their boys to grow up, and men for their daughters to grow up. It's a matter of it being pretty foreign to us. My nephew is 14, he's 5'10" and has side burns. Not to mention a deep voice. It's flat out creepy. But it doesn't bother us as much that the girls are 'developing'. But my bil is going crazy. It drives him crazy that his daughter had breasts. Frankly, it's ammusing. As to when he goes through puberty, look at family history. My niece is 11, and she's wearing an A and had her period. Her mom was like that. I also know that my hubby and his brother went through puberty early. So, it doesn't suprise me that Taylor is going through puberty so early.
