I'm Pregnant!!!
Hi all,
I mostly lurk here, but I just had to let SOMEONE (besides DH) know that I am finally pregnant again
We've been trying for 2 years, and it's too early to tell DS3 and family yet.
Time to give up margaritas and coffee
I also need to hop on the Flybabies bandwagon so my life doesn't implode with a busier household. Of course, (if all goes well) my due date will be late July/early August in the worst part of the Texas summer, but hey, these things happen
Thanks for listening
Joanna

Congrats!
We ended up telling DS3 about our impending baby (due early June) quite early...a side effect of family doctor visits. He saw the first ultrasound and announced "the baby is in the tidepool, and the tidepool is in mama". So far, though, he is quite convinced that the baby will be neither a boy nor a girl, but a baby seal. Or perhaps an elephant.
Anyhow, congratulations! Our first two were born in late July and early August, so I have some notion what you'll be going through in the summer. Hope there's a pool nearby!
Mazel tov!
Let us know how everything goes.

congrats!
Very happy for you! Now maybe you will quit lurking and join us.
I can sympathize with the hot summers. #3 was born in early September, so I was very large and pregnant during the hot New Mexico summer. At least we don't have your humidity, though!
How wonderful!
Blessings to you!
We tried to "not tell" our DD3.5 "too early," either, and then heard from her pre-school teacher that she was telling everyone about the new baby!
Lenora
Congratulations!
Joanna, I'm so pleased for you! Two years is a long wait. Blessings to you and your family!
My 3yo and even my then 20mo started to "get it" near the end of this last pregnancy. I think once they can feel the baby move it starts to hit home.
Congrats!
What a Great Christmas present!
Gong Xi Nimen!
Well I had to come up with something other than Congrats!
Another one who can sympathise with heat and humidity here, although my second was born in December - no advantage when there aren't seasons. Your 2yr wait probably seemed a long time, but you'll probably find it was exactly the right length of time for you... things seem to work that way.
come and delurk more often, when you're 'putting your feet up' perhaps!
Kerri.
Thanks everyone!!
Thanks everyone for all the good wishes
Now I just need to start turning the "junk" room into a "baby" room before my energy level goes down the drain
Another one!
Congratuations, Joanna. I'm expecting my first baby in mid-April. So, with an English spring, not too much heat to worry about at least!
I also have some de-junking issues to grapple with. Our study has to be converted into the nursery, and since DH and I are both doing PhDs, that's a whole LOT of junk! Still, babies don't take up that much room at first, right?

Baby Space
Hi Zillah! Congratulations!
The baby doesn't take up much space, but the thousands of pounds of baby accoutrements do
I think we'll do with less "stuff" this time around!
more congrats!
i posted a bit many months ago on the old forum and have finally reregistered
I know the feeling of needing to get 'on the band wagon'. i've been saying that since the beginning of this pregnancy LOL -- now i'm down to 3-6 wks and the wagon has long since left me
i've had 2 fall babies and a summer baby -- boy is it hot! of course with my spring baby i was dog sick during the hottest part of the yr. This one due middle of winter seems to be well timed for the pregnancy, but i'm not excited about having a newborn in freezing temperatures.
good luck!

congratulations!
I thought I had posted here, but guess not--that is good news!
The don't have to :)
all they need at first is some cloths, diapers and a carseat (if you travel by car) - though we also have found a baby carrier (i use an unpadded sling) to be a necessity. even toys aren't particularly useful fo a brand newborn -- and if you already carry a decent sized bag that can be used as a diaper bag.
we haven't had a crib since dd1 which was never used, used a borrowed swing w/ her for all of 1 month due to colic and haven't needed it with the others, no highchair for 6-12 months and even then you can use a booster at the table, toys and books seem to collect as needed and w/ one didn't take up more room than a laundry basket. If i needed to put the babe down in a safe place to transfer laundry or take a shower i used the carseat -- though i could see some sort of bouncy seat might be lighter to carry.
all and all i would say that space wise they don't take up much room until 2 or so and you start getting the big toys LOL.
