I had my baby girl... !!!

It's been a while since I've posted. On Wednesday, Oct 29th, I had my baby girl! She's Eleanor Grace, born 12:35 pm in Houston TX, 5 lbs 15 oz, with a head full of dark hair.

Delivery was fairly uneventful... but the electricity did go out during labor... which was kind of strange. Also, her cord was wrapped around her neck and she was hanging on to it with both hands. It caused her heart tones to be low and also caused some distress during contractions. Luckily, my labor was quick (I think I pushed only 6 times.) It was a little scary at the time, but she's doing fine now.

The best thing about all of it is that she is an excellent nurser and she's gaining weight well. My first baby had "disorganized and lazy suck" and would barely suck a bottle. It generally took 20 to 40 minutes to get him to latch on. I had a very stressed out time with breast-feeding that one. I'm hoping I'll be able to nurse this one longer.

As with my first, I'm absolutely smitten! I'm amazed at how much I love her. Is this a mystery to anyone else? What is it that makes us love our newborns so much?

Oh well, I hope things are going well for the rest of the new mommies-- Susannah, Kelly and Jenn. I've LOVED hearing about the births! I'll continue to check in.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I’m jealous.....me wants more babies but can’t *pout* She’s sooo tiny I can’t imagine. Mine were so big mostly tall.... they couldn’t wear newborn cloths.... they were both almost 9 lbs and almost 23 inches long.

Uneventful you say....no baby delivery is uneventful. And yours sounds like it was very eventful. Wow

you said:

I can just picture that, made me smile and giggle, too cute. Thanks for sharing, I’ll live vicariously through you. And I’m glad she is taking to nursing so well.

I’m sooo happy it all turned out so peachy

congrats again!!!!

Yea!

Congratulations! I am so excited. I've been thinking about you. I know what you are saying about being smitten. They are so tiny and helpless and so adorable because of it! Enjoy, we are!

Hey! Another Grace!

Good name. Smiling Congratulations, and I'm so glad everything turned out well during the delivery and that the nursing is going so well. My, she was a petite one, just under 6 pounds! How sweet!

It's funny you use the word "smitten." I was just thinking last night while we were nursing that it's kind of like a love affair that you have with your infant. You stare at them all the time and they are so beautiful that it's hard to take in all at once! And your heart goes ker-thump when they smile at you. Smiling
