Moms?? I need your help
I need a good recipe for making bubble blowing solution. Got one? My memory fails me, but I think there is some secret household ingredient to add to soap and water that makes for better bubbles.

Corn Syrup?
I believe that's the magic ingredient you're thinking of.
There's a recipe on Martha Stewart Living that calls for 10 cups water, 4 cups dish soap, and 1 cup of corn syrup.
Most of the articles I have read insist that the dish soap must be Joy. I haven't tested that theory myself. Truth be told, I just buy the commercial stuff. It's pretty cheap around these parts.
Sounds like you're in for a bit of fun!
Rose
glycerin
My mom used to put glycerin in our bubble mix. Along with dish soap and a little water to make it go further. I don't know if it actually works because I"m not patient enough to try. I'm willing to bet that their are some sites that have recipes for that kind of thing. Have you checked out http://familyfun.go.com ? That's the link for Family Fun magazine. If anyone would have a recipe for that I would bet they would! Good luck!
Ok, you got me curious . .
so I went and looked it up. And silverbear was right, it's corn syrup. Here's the recipe.
Simply stir together 6 parts water, 2 parts Joy dishwashing liquid (this brand works the best), and 3/4 part corn syrup. Store in a covered container.
Have fun!
glycerin
it helps the bubbles have staying power
Joy or Dawn is a must!!! T
Joy or Dawn is a must!!!
That is, if you want the big, strong bubbles. Joy works the best, but Dawn is pretty close. For whatever reason the other brands don't work as well. Makes you wonder.
I've used both corn syrup and glycerin, and found corn syrup to work the best. Another thing that helps if if you can let the mixture settle for about 24 hours.

Thanx
Thanx all of you for the input. I guess I'm going to have to buy some Joy. I want only the biggest and bestest bubbles
.
There is also a recipe out there for bubbles that will not break. They just sit on the ground or floor after you blow them. I want to find that recipe too. If I come up with it I'll post it for you all. You can buy the stuff but I think it's pretty expensive.
Winnie the Pooh
Ok, that reminds me of a Winnie the Pooh movie I own. Tigger wants to make unbreakable bubbles, and he does. The trouble is that Pooh gets caught in it, and they can't get him out. Eventually he gets out but it makes me wonder - if the bubbles don't break then what do you do with them? Throw them away? And what do you put in them, cement?
Just kidding - I asume you meant that they just don't break as easily! LOL Silly me.
I bought some of the commerci
I bought some of the commercial stuff yesterday and it was really lousy. I want bigger, better bubbles
.
Thanx for the link, I'll check it out.
