Well, we took the medical information, the picture, and the video to the International Adoption Center to have it evaluated by the doctor there. She called me to let me know that he looks healthy and developmentally on target. She said his height, weight, and head circumference are perfect. She called him a "good-sized kid" who is "solid-looking." She was amazed that he is walking at 12-13 months because (she said) the average age for kids in general to walk is 15 months and that institutionalized kids often aren't walking at 18 months.
We emailed the adoption agency and told them we want him! They said he's on hold pending our "formal" approval by them ... that takes a few weeks, because they have to make sure that they have all our papwerwork and it's all in the correct format before we can be officially approved.
We have done everything that we can. Now we have to sit back and wait for everybody else to do what they have to do. Citizenship and Immigration has to approve us (that should take 3-5 weeks from now) and then the agency will submit our dossier to Ethiopia and we'll be assigned a court date. That takes about 6-12 months.
His name is Abrehem (AH-(as-in-awesome)-breh-hem) and he is 13 months old. He was born 12 months after Danika was. He's gorgeous. I wish I could post his picture, but Ethiopia doesn't allow public display of their kids.
My son, Abrehem.
