has anybody been to school for an alternative thearapy; eg massage, reiki, aromathearpy, hebal etc? If so which one? What made you decide on that one? Has it helped you?

I'm not clear on your questioI'm not clear on your question. . whether one has been to school for alternative therapy. Do you mean to study or for treatment? I went to an Iridologist/Dr. of Naturopathy? a year or so ago and I can tell you it was the best thing that ever happened to me, healthwise. I'm still amazed at what she could tell and how much the supplements helped. Recently I've had a lot going on and have slacked off taking them and I need to get back on them faithfully. My first visit was at a time of extreme stress and the Bach flower drops are the most wonderful thing ever! My husband and kids all know when I need my "drops". Seemed I was so grouchy and irritable and they made all the difference in the world. One visit when I was having sort of an anxiety attack. . just really nervous, she did some kind of aromatherapy, I can't remember the product, but it really helped. I'm sure there are quacks as with every other profession, but the lady I went to was excellent. Can't speak highly enough of the experience. becoming a studentI was wondering about schools to learn how to be a healer, to learn how to do massage, or aromathearpy, etc. I study aromathearpy and herbs on my own but I am in no way an expert and I want to learn more, perhaps become certifided or something. ![]() Well...You could always check out Heart of Herbs, where I'm studying for my aromatherapy certs and eventually I hope my herbalist certs. Full disclosure: It's run by my good friend Demetria Clarke, a master herbalist in Vermont. She rules. neat...do you get to add M.H. or anything to your name when you are done? I kinda think that would be a perk, just something to show my mom. I did check out her site, and I like that it has long distance courses because it is difficult for me to just up and go somewhere. ![]() In regards to REIKI...There aren't any "schools" for Reiki that I know of, though often times massage or other schools will offer space for Reiki classes for their students. As far as Reiki goes, you generally find a Reiki Master that you like or "click" with, take their class and get attuned. IMHO, one-on-one classes to small class sizes of 3 to 5 people are best for the Master/Student dynamic that is so important in Reiki. Prices are kind of wacky, varying from free to hundreds of dollars. I've found a Reiki Master in Washington County, Oregon that is really, really great. Her website is AriseCounseling. Where do you live? A friend of mine in Springfield, MO took a massage therapy course at a massage school called SOMA and she LOVED it. The good thing about well qualified schools is that you can not only train there, but after you certify, you can often work there, too, which she did. May The Hair On Your Toes Never Fall Out --Traditional Hobbit Blessing ![]() Heart of HerbsI also know Demetria - or knew her in her previous life Rose!!!!OMG I am so happy to see you here! ![]() Hiya, stranger!Such a small world! Demetria and I used to push our strollers around the booming metropolis of Copenhagen, NY (1 street light and a lot of cows). How quickly time passes! ![]() You betcha! Two Birkenstock-wearing, breastfeeding, cloth-diapering mammas in one Army Housing development! Worlds colliding, indeed. I wishI would love to go to a school to become a reflexologist, but the nearest one is, I think, Idaho. I kinda considered becoming a massuse (sp?), but my hubby is really uncomfortable with that, and it's not important enough for me to make a fuss. Anyway, I just make it up by reading as many books on reflexology that I can get my hands on. I also read massage books a lot. Post new comment |
