Help! A pink ring!

Submitted by Andrea on Fri, 03/26/2004 - 9:18am
I feel like the Cat in the Hat has been at my house! I have a fairly new white solid surface sink - not Corian, but a basic model. After rinsing out red paint cups from DD's projects there are pink stains in it. I've tried cleaner with bleach, Borax, and now I'm letting Oxy Clean sit on it for awhile. Any suggestions? I really want it to be white again!

Hi Andrea.....
Sometimes a gum eraser will remove the stains. Just move the eraser over the surface. ~ like you are "erasing" the paint marks.

Another thing that you can try is a baking soda paste made with Baking Soda and lemon juice. Mix in the lemon juice until you get a thick paste ~ then apply it to the stains and let it sit for about a half an hour.
Rinse with warm water.
One of the two should work for you.
Good luck.....

Gum eraser?
CariAnne, what do you mean by a gum eraser? I'm wondering if my Mr. Clean Magic Eraser would work.

Have you tried mom's new gown?
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Success!
No Lynn, but that was next on my list!
CariAnn, I never figured dout what a gum eraser was, but my Mr. Clean Magic Eraser worked! Woohoo! It is spotless now! I was almost resigned to living with the pink ring, but I guess I won't have to. I really love the Mr. Clean eraser - it has worked on a number of things.

Cat in the Hat Comes Back
Hmmmmm, interesting CariAnne - I love mine, now more than ever! Wonder if they're any cheaper at the art supply store? I have used Mr. Clean on a lot of dirt I thought I could never get out, but they are a bit pricey - I can go through one in a day.
As an aside, I had to read The Cat in the Hat Comes Back to DD5 tonite - what fun!

Sigh...
This made me rather nostalgic, I think....neither of my DDs has expressed any interest in the Cat-In-The-Hat movie....
sigh...

LMAO
Goood one, Lynn.
Just a note.
Vinegar is a natural bleaching agent. Spray and let it sit. It kinda stinks at first but then it will go away. You don't have to rinse!
It also is the only thing that gets rid of pet odor.
I sound like a commercial!

A gum eraser........
is very similar in texture to those "new" commercial magic erasers.

I have always used gum erasers (that you can get from any good art supply store...) for cleaning Corian and the like.
I am glad that the eraser thing did it for you.

The last gum eraser that I bought
was from Michaels (Craft Supply Chain) and it was $1.49.

It lasted me about 4 months.....
I use them anytime there is a stain on cabinet tile or Corian.
They also can be used for removing scuffs off of tile and linoleum flooring. (I buy two erasers though ~ and write "Floor" on one of them.)
Gum erasers are White in color and are softer than those hard, pink erasers that we used as kids.
