I know we had a thread on this subject a year or two ago on the old site, but that's inaccesible now (and I have a poor memory!) We have some new people here now, too, so I though I'd ask again - what are your favourite books?
Chidren/Young Adult:
Little House on the Prarie Series
The Little Princess
The Secret Garden
Heidi
Little Women
I read these over and over and over as a 'tween and teenager.
Adult Fiction:
The Bonesetter's Daughter
The Bluest Eye
The Burning Lamp by Frances Murray
Arabella, The Grand Sophy, and These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer
A Thousand Roses, by Bethany Campbell
(As to the last three lines, I'm a hopless romantic.)
__________
The list is just too long. I think I'd do better listing my favorite authors, really.
Margaret Wise Brown
Judy Blume
Beverly Cleary
Amy Tan
Toni Morrison
Barbara Hambly
Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels
Georgette Heyer
Laura Ingalls Wilder
Orson Scott Card
David Brin
J.R. Rowlings
That's all I can think of right now, I'm sure I'll think of more later!
:added to original post: I forgot Red Adam's Lady, by Grace Ingram. Not only is it a fabulous piece of historical fiction, but it's where I found the name for my daughter, Annora.
______
Little Women (my all time favorite)
The Chronicles of Narnia
Little Men
Little House books
Rose in bloom (also by Lousia May Alcott)
East of the Sun, West of the Moon
The Wrinkle in time series
Anne of Green Gables series (my favorite of those is Anne's house of dreams)
When I was a kid I also liked the bunnicula books, Are you there God? its me Margaret, The last silk Dress, umm you know there is no way to list all of my favorite books. The list is waaaaaay too extensive. The fact of the matter is there are so many good books, and too little time to read them all. LOL
Comments
