Adoption Update: The Video Fiasco
Yesterday we got a video from AFAA. It's a video of waiting kids, and the boy we are interested in is on it briefly. I have been waiting for a whole week for this video!
As soon as Frank got home from work, we popped the tape in the VCR ... and the VCR promptly ate the tape!! We managed to get the tape out, but there was about 5 or 6 inches of tape hanging out of the case, all mangled. Frank spent 3 hours trying to fix the VCR, with no luck. I was in tears, Frank was angry, Danika was whiney ... what a great night!
This morning I went down the street to a guy who fixes VCRs. He was able to fix the tape by manually retracting the loose tape and then manually forwarding past the wrinkled part. He put the tape in his VCR to make sure it worked and I got to see about 90 seconds of video (not of our boy). He told me it would probably cost more for him to fix our VCR than it would cost to buy a new one, so I guess we'll have to buy a new VCR!
At least I know the tape works, and my friend is going to let us borrow her VCR tonight so we can finally see the tape!
