iRobot Roomba Pro Intelligent Floorvac Robotic Vacuum

I love my Roomba

cameron's picture

My husband and I have owned one of these critters for about a year, and we adore it. It's been remarkably useful -- much more useful than I thought it would be. It's brilliant on our hardwood floors. And it's very small and light, so it's easy to store and carry. I use it almost daily.

After several months of heavy use, one belt did break last week; we were able to fix it easily with a simple O-ring. When we opened it up (which would have voided the warranty if we'd still had one), we found that the contraption's innards were stuffed full of dust, which surely can't be good for it. If nobody in your house is handy at all, this may not be the vacuum for you. But if you're not afraid of getting out the screwdriver once in a while, this vacuum can be a lot of fun.

The whole iRobot family

Love mine too. My Roomba and Scooba have become members of the family. The kids have given them names (Robbie and Scoobie respectively). I can't praise them enough. They've cut my cleaning time in half. I love to cook and make things from scratch so the Scooba is wonderful. I can just run it in the kitchen after one of my iron chef moments and come back thirty minutes and have a sparkling clean floor. I'm seriously contemplating picking up a Dirt Dog (iRobot's latest offering) for my husband's workshop.

Me too!

I think the Roomba is great, especially for those hardwood floors that seem to be covered with dust and hair at all times. And it's so much easier to carry Roomba upstairs than a big vaccuum.

We did need a repair once -- in the end the company sent us a new one and told us to keep the old for parts! For some that may not be great, but it's been great for us -- and we've never had another repair, at home or through the company.

We have contemplated the Scooba, but I'm not sure our house is big enough to justify it.

Roomba's are great

Seems like everyone I talk to who owns a Roomba is happy with it. I know it works best on hardwood floors, so that may be a drawback for some people. Also, one of the biggest negatives is that it tries to suck up everything in sight - including cords! The new pet one seems pretty good as well, and I could sure use it right now.
