What I'm Listening To

Boot Liquor Internet Radio [1]: We have become extremely fond of Americana music at our house; our favorite public radio music show is American Routes [2] and our favorite music channel on the cable is the Americana channel [3].

What is Americana? It's American roots music--bluegrass, country/western, blues, cajun/zydeco and folk. Most folks expand it to include soul, rockabilly, early R&B and folk rock. That's the cool thing: On Americana and American Routes you're likely to hear Buddy Guy, Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss and James Brown all in one day segment. Boot Liquor isn't quite as eclectic, sticking to the more countrified stuff, but kicks out rockin' sets that span the decades right up to the best of the present. If you've got iTunes, it should show up under Americana; check it out.
