Joss Whedon get the greenlight for "Firefly" movie [1]: Woo-freakin'-hoo!!
My little fanboy heart has been breaking ever since the cancellation of "Angel" last month, so the news that Firefly [2] will become a feature film (to be called "Serenity," the ship's name) is uplifting to say the least. All nine members of the original core cast have signed on and Joss says the movie will be stand-alone for folks who aren't familiar with the original show.
Only 11 episodes of the truly brilliant sci-fi western made it to air (of 14 made), and Fox TV aired them badly out of order; it's no wonder it didn't catch on quickly. If you don't think it's something you want to purchase, find a fanboy friend who has the set and offer to bring the Mountain Dew and snacks if you can watch along with. Seriously, they are great. They're just better than broadcast television deserved; the show had it in it to be better than Buffy, and it makes "Enterprise" look like a high school theatrical.
Don't blame me if you start saying stuff like "Best be getting on with things."
