Easy to do with the new job
As I've mentioned, DH is now working from home, which couldn't be better timed!
We have also tried to do playgroups closer to home and parcel out trips to more distant locations. More carpooling too.

We have decided not to do
We have decided not to do swimming lessons (two weeks to town everyday) or do VBS (1 week to town every evening). I'm usually going to town twice a week at the most (Sunday for church, though I have only gone twice this summer to save some fuel). It's hard being 25 miles out, if I run out of something I have to just do without. Even more so with the fuel.
We decided not to do a vacation this summer and we will be lucky if we get to go camping even once (Labor Day for reunion). We aren't going to the free movie on Thursday, nor much of anything else.
Of course, DH still has to blow and go, and sometimes I have to make a special trip just to get him some parts or something else important. The farm takes up alot of fuel and you can't really skimp on that. Fields have to be plowed and planted, hay has to be cut, raked and baled. Diesel is about $4.80/gallon and it SUCKS. With the cost of diesel up, so has the cost of fertilizer. We can't afford to fertilize this year. Actually, it STILL hasn't rained this summer, so we haven't even put in a crop yet. No crop, no money coming in, and inputs are all high. We will be lucky to keep the farm after this year.
Aren't I just a happy ball of sunshine! LOL!

I was the "haven't changed" vote...
But that's mostly because I don't drive much in the first place. I was already trying to combine errands, and there are many days my car doesn't move from the garage. I guess I could've said I've reduced a little since I haven't gone to many Moms' Club activities (most of the members and activities are nearly 20 minutes away from me), but that's been more because we've been sick than because of the fuel.
Jenny, I'm sorry to hear things are going so rough for you! I hope it rains soon! Hope the price of fuel comes down, too, but the rain seems more likely.
driving less
I have been trying to get a carpool started for over a year at work. When gas hit $4.00 a gallon all of a sudden people wanted to join. Now we have 4 and only have to drive once a month more or less.
It rained last night,
It rained last night, finally! Things are looking sunny now (not outside, still cloudy, but that's a good thing).
