Amen!
I'm glad you figured it out. When I first started having those kinds of symptoms, I just chalked it up to menopause onset. Thank goodness I have an OB/GYN who, during my routine annual exam, ran a full panel of bloodwork and noticed my thyroid level put me in the "preclinical hypothyroidism" area. She prescribed a very low dose of synthroid and within weeks, I was back to my normal self.
The thing is, I'm REALLY lucky because the levels aren't that skewed. In fact, by the "old" standards, they would have been judged normal. So had I not had as good a doc who kept up with changing guidelines and ran the test (when most docs won't even test thyroid levels without some cause), I never would have found out and just would have muddled through.
And don't get me started on insurance companies. Oh brother!
Hope you get things squared away soon.
