detachment
fortunately I've never had to deal with any of that (transvestite and transsexual particularly) in my personal acquaintances, so I think I approached it with a healthy degree of detachment and made sensible comments. If I actually had to face it head on I might struggle more with it. I guess that the majority of my acquaintances will be family people and inevitably that will mostly rule out anyone who isn't fairly hetero. Must've been a shock for you Lynn!!
just had to remind DS8 1/2 not to use words he's not sure of the meaning of since what was coming out of his mouth was a racial slur which certainly didn't come from me. Why aren't kids' mouths fitted with a special filter?? Oh yes, it's called a brain and they don't use it, I remember now!
