Any day now I am to be birthing partner to my DSIL. Her husband will be there too, but she wanted some female company, and since I've had one of my own and live in the same city, I fitted the bill!

She hopes to have a home water birth, but is OK with the possibility of transfer to the hospital if things aren't hunky-dory.

Anyway, I wonder if anyone has any good advice for me? Things to take with me. Things to be aware of. Great birthing partners you have known . . . You know the kind of thing!
