I went to the local feed
I went to the local feed store, chatted with the guy. They are week old chicks, he tried to get the females but it was hard to tell them apart. I just got what they had in stock, didn't want to order any. No problem if there are a couple of roosters in there, and I can always go get more chicks if needed. They are local chicks, from a local hatchery (which friends of mine run anyway, so I could just go straight there if I wanted to). It's address is: http://www.privetthatchery.com
I think he said 5 are gray barred leghorn, one a brown barred leghorn. And not sure about the one with feathers on the legs. I may call in the morning and ask Ed (the owner of the feed store).
As for table scraps, well, they go to my baby (no, not Drew. My 9 month old 80 pound purebred German Shephard).
For housing, they are in my garage right now in a couple of cardboard boxes. But I'm going to hire a junior high kid to come over Friday (since we have all Fridays off) and clean out an old shed that used to be a chicken house of some sort. like 50 years ago. Before the previous owners started using it to store all their crap like old appliances and such and left it all here for me to deal with.
