I so know what you mean
I so know what you mean about the clothes! It's hard right now because my girls don't want the cute little girl dresses anymore and want more trendy stuff. I found a cute knit shirt and skirt set at Target when I went to Albuquerque the other day (it's 4 hours away. hubby had a school board conference, I went along for shopping and the FOOD!). I like the makeup for the house idea. I may get a couple little things like that for their stockings (Bath and Body works has some good things along those lines, like manicure set and of course lotions). I got the older one the American Girl book The care and keeping of You (or something like that) last year. To prepare her for what's about to come, like Aunt Flos visits. LOL!
The Password Journal is a spring loaded contraption that is supposed to recognize your voice and password only. I'm sure it doesn't work as well as it says it does. But Santa is bringing it anyway. I like to encourage the creative writing/journal keeping. The Friendchip seems to be the modern day version of passing notes, but in a text message format. I think it comes with two reader thingies and some chip thingies and you pass the chips to a friend after you have typed something on it. Both of these are $19.99 at Walmart. I'm on the fence with the friendchip still. I'll see what Santa says. I'm sure she would really rather have a cell phone, but I say not til 7th grade when she starts playing school sports.
Can hubby build fence? I still have a couple miles of barb wire and old posts to be torn out and rebuilt? LOL! Sorry things are tight. This is one year I'm actually able to loosen the purse strings a little bit. We had a couple of well placed rains over the summer and got a good crop this year. DH is finally going to be able to build his barn to be able to work on his semi truck and tractors (oh, and to clean out all his crap from my garage! LOL!).
