Thanks to everyone for suggestions. Becky, all my patience goes to the kids these days--none left over for things stuck to pyrex.
Non-stick pans at my house invariably end up ruined by someone other than me. I cannot believe that both my mother and my husband have reached adulthood without learning not to use a metal knife on a non-stick cake pan, but the evidence is overwhelming, so I avoid non-stick pans whenever possible. I ended up getting some stainless steel pans at a kitchen store. If those do not work out, I am definitely going for the stoneware. Thank you all.
