Today is rainy, cold, and overall just miserable. My oldest is off with a friend getting ready for Prom. My 2 younger children and I decided to head to the thrift store, the dollar store, and then to pick up lunch. We bundled up, and off we went carrying a bag full of things to donate to the thrift shop.
While my children were browsing the shop I headed to my favorite aisle-purses and shoes. I've been very lucky and always seem to find new shoes (this is an addiction of mine). There was an elderly man looking at things in this aisle also. He looked a little grungy-wrinkled clothes, messy hair, and as though he hadn't had a bath in awhile. He held up a pair of womans white and gold flats and said "These sure would be a nice pair of shoes for you, are you an 8?" I told him no, that I was a 7 or 7.5 depending on the brand, but I did admire the shoe, it brought back memories of the 80's
.
Anyway, the kids and I found some good bargains and had a great lunch. Ever since our time at the thrift store though I've been thinking about the man who took a moment out of his day to make a woman smile. For the first time in my life, a man, was trying to help me, someone with a terrible addiction to shoes, find more shoes. So, even though its even gloomier outside now, my day has been sweet. I didn't find any shoes but I did find a very cool skirt.
I don't know who he was, doubt if I ever see him again, but I hope he found some great goodies also.
