A chemist acquaintance
A chemist acquaintance (chemistry major, not British pharmacist!) told me that home stoves do not get hot enough to release those carcinogens from teflon pans, even on high heat. So while I probably will not buy teflon pans the next time I shop for pans, I feel comfortable continuing to use the ones I have until they wear out.
