I have an Olumpus D-520 Zoom that I got in Jan 2002. It's a 2.0 megapixel with 3X optical zoom. It's treated me very well for almost 4 years. I like it because it's point & shoot, it's small enought to fit in my purse, and more than sufficient for snap shots. My 2 cents worth is whichever you choose, get optical zoom, use lithium batteries, and look for one with infinite focus option -- I can't take pictures through a window.
