Lynn, those books you mentioned - how basic are the patterns? Really I need a pattern for someone who has never knitted a sock before, as I am utterly baffled by the patterns I have looked at. I didn't realise how complicated it was, the whole things reads like double dutch to me. Or am I just stupid? Don't answer that! I don't know any real life knitters at all, and there are no local knitting groups Folks I know don't do 'crafty' things - my friends think I'm quite odd
