I don't know that it's quick, per se...
But you can decorate with ornamental pumpkins and gourds that you've grown in your garden bed. I've got a centerpiece on the dining room table with them and the dried indian corn.
Mind you, I did not grow these, I got them two for a dollar at the grower's outlet, but fact is, they're cheap, and I could have grown them if I'd wanted to.
The kiddies would probably love to grow their own pumpkin patch if you have a bit of bare earth available. I recommend this book to get them excited about it and really into the whole pumpkin experience.
Did I mention, I likes pumpkins?
