Truly Encyclopedic

Anyone interested in foods as medicine--which should be everyone--should have this book in her home library. Paul Pitchford has assembled an astonishing amount of information on both Asian and Western findings on food and healing, including Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

It's a little too focused on veganism/vegetarianism for my liking and ignores research on the negative effects of unfermented soy, but most of his work is incredibly useful. It's as enlightening to just sit down, open it to a chapter and read as it is to search for specific information. Here at TNH Central it's part of my home health research library, and I'm using many of its recommendations in treating Josie (GI troubles), Lou (she's just a big hyper spaz!) and myself (fibro and iatrogenic heart problems), and keeping John healthy.

Highly recommended.
