My daughter started receiving this magazine about 2 years ago (when she was about 2/1/2). She loves it. The pictures are really high quality and she finds the info about animals and the natural world really interesting. Pretty refreshing for a girl who lives for princesses and flower fairies about 98% of her waking life.

She is also very intrigued by the recipes, crafts, and science projects, though I confess I am sooooo lazy that I have not tried any, even though they seem very easy.

The animal centerfold is a highlight, as are the games -- mazes, matching, etc. I'd consider it appropriate for non-readers, kids learning to read, and kids who can read by themselves -- especially since my DD enjoyed it at all those stages.
