Lyn that is a good book on knitting socks. I think knitting socks are easier than knitting a sweater and they take less time to knit than a scarf.
I have a really simple and easy pattern for a larger gauge sock made with worsted weight yarn that can be worn around the house to keep your tooties warm in the winter. I have do some searching in my pattern box but when I find it, I will post it.
