You don't always get an immediate "feeling" that the child is your child. When DH and I saw a photo of our little girl, I felt an immediate connection to her, but DH did not. He didn't get one until we traveled to Russia to meet her and other children. After seeing her, I was 'done'; I knew it. Adoption is a wonderful experience, but it's tricky. We are conditioned to the expectations one has for "conventional" means of creating a family. You know, that you'll be pregnant for nine months & then the baby will arrive. Well, we didn't have a "due date" for a long, long time. It seemed we were pregnant for years!
If you want to PM me about anything regarding international adoption or if you just want someone who has "been there, done that" just to listen, feel free anytime.
