Things to do before I'm 40
*Spend a few days in Glastonbury with DS
*Have a colour consultation with Colour Me Beautiful
*Lose several stones
*Have a (henna) tattoo
*Find my soulmate. Without having to go out to pubs etc to do so. Hopefully he will just see me working in my garden, come up and say hi --read more

I came across this site today, which has a list of UK expressions that are apparently unknown in the US. Some of it is rather funny.
'ROUNDABOUT n. 1. Traffic circle. A British version of billiards played with automobiles. This is an attempt by the British to avoid the dilemma Americans have when four cars come simultaneously to a four-way stop. The British solve this by allowing everyone to continue into the intersection without stopping.' --read more

1. My left knee has been really painful for the last seven or so months, though only if I kneel on it, which made it easy to avoid going to the doctor. I just don't kneel anymore Mum has been nagging me to go though, so at last I gave in and went to see him. Apparently I have crepitus, some kind of horrible grinding thing going on in there, and I had to have an xray today to determine the cause. The doctor said probably arthritis. I am 38!--read more

Doctor Who, that's Who!

You lucky Americans are getting the new Doctor Who series one in March.
We saw it on the BBC last year. It is brilliant and Christopher Eccleston is divine. DS14 just got the series on DVD for Christmas and I'm looking forward to watching it all over again.--read more

I gave up sugar in tea and coffee last September, no mean feat as I'd been taking at least two (heaped!) spoonfuls in every cup all my life.
Once I'd given it up though, I really came to regret it. Everyone who has given up sugar in drinks tells you that after a week or two they didn't notice and they got used to it easily. For me that wasn't true - every cup I have drunk since has been only tolerable - but at the same time the few times someone has given me sugar by mistake it's tasted horrible to me. So there was no going back, but I couldn't seem to go forward either.--read more

So I decide it's about time I learn to make pastry. Having never made it in my life, (well, maybe once I made a sausage plait in Home Ec when I was 12) I have no idea at all where to start.
I've looked at a couple of cookbooks, and even my basic ones Delia assume I know how to do it!! Argh.--read more

Why is it that when I am posting regularly here I can think of a pageful of things to say, a couple of times a day and on multiple threads and topics? Then when I haven't posted for a while, the more time that goes by, the harder it becomes to think of even a sentence to contribute. --read more
