Little Update...

Things are going pretty well over here, but they are extremely busy. The boys are running and climbing everywhere (which is nice because they were really late walking), and Fiona is an awesome big sister. I am starting to be able to do more things outside the home (like actually make it to my weekly sitting meditation practice with others--kind of like church for buddhists--as well as getting more involved with the local UU church on Sunday for more mainstream services).

Safe in my bubble...

I was thinking the other night that it's been almost 3 years since I "checked out" of mainstream society. I'm thinking that I really like going slow.

No cell phone. No corporate/business paycheck. No school. Just me, my husband, and the kids, doing life. Not even a whole lot of internet or TV lately. Not much interaction with the world at large either--it's not really the season for it. Just occasional visits from friends, Fiona's playgroup, and my almost-daily outing to the 30 minute circuit-training mini-gym thing.

Kerry/Jane Fonda photo was a fake...

Well, I'll be damned.

Slighly humorous, not too surprising.

I guess I don't have even basic digital photo-fixing skills. I didn't exactly spend hours looking at it either.

Holy Crap!

Just what the War On Terrorism needs...

I both can and can't believe Sharon authorized that. I wish they'd gotten their damn wall built first, and I wish I didn't have any Israeli friends in Israel right now.

Ow.

You know, as much as a loathe Mr. Ashcroft's policies, hearing about what he's going through physically right now makes my toes curl in empathy.

I really hope that they're giving him a good diluadid (however the heck you spell it) line. GI pain is the worst. When I had a similar attack, not only did I think I was going to die, I wished I was already dead so that it would stop.

Parents should be seen and not heard...

Color me amused (and maybe bemused)...

I've always been absolutely fascinated by the American culture as it relates to parenting and parents' roles. It used to make me quite angry, but I'm finally developing a sense of humor about it because--well, just like watching an obnoxious jerk slipping on a banana peel, it's almost as funny as it is painful.

Take for example (all of these firsthand accounts, BTW, that I have seen with my own eyes):
